New Sidekick is the assistant built into your Shopify admin. Riserva gives it a set of look-ups, so you can ask about your reservations in plain words from any admin page — “who’s arriving today?”, “has the Lopez party paid?” — and get an answer with a link into Riserva. Sidekick writes the answer in its own words; Riserva supplies the facts. When something matters (a refund, a party size before service), open the link and check the page in Riserva.

Before your first question

The first time Sidekick wants to use Riserva, Shopify asks you to allow it: “Allow Sidekick to use Riserva”. Allow it once and Sidekick can look things up in Riserva from then on. Until then, Sidekick has no access to Riserva at all. Tip: adding “in Riserva” to a question (“Who is arriving today in Riserva?”) tells Sidekick where to look.

What you can ask

Riserva answers nine kinds of question. Dates can be written the way you’d say them — “today”, “Saturday”, “this weekend”, “October 24” — and a location by part of its name. Who is coming on a day
  • “Who is arriving today?”
  • “How many guests are booked Saturday at the estate?”
You get each reservation’s time, guest, party size, experience and status, with the day’s totals and a link to that day on Host. One reservation, or one guest
  • “Find reservation RES-ABC123.” (Upper or lower case both work.)
  • “When is Maria Garcia booked?” · “Has the Lopez party paid?” · “Has Maria been here before?”
You get up to ten matches with date, time, party size (and how many have arrived, for a party that is partly here), experience, location, status and payment, each with a link to the reservation’s page. Unless you name dates, a search looks 30 days back and 90 days ahead. Money that needs attention
  • “Which reservations still owe money?” · “Any failed charges?”
  • “What will be charged on saved cards this week?”
You get reservations in Payment due with the amount and the reason (a declined card says why), refunds still owed, and the saved-card charges coming up with their dates and amounts. The waitlist
  • “Who is on the waitlist?” · “How long is the wait right now?”
Today’s walk-in waitlist: each party’s size, how long they’ve waited, the wait you quoted and whether they’ve been told their table is ready. Open times
  • “Can we fit 6 tomorrow around 2?” · “Any tasting slots Saturday for 4?”
The times still open for that day and party size, by experience and venue, with the price per guest or for the venue and whether it is members only. The answer includes a link to Book reservation with the day, party and location filled in — Sidekick doesn’t make the reservation; you finish it in Riserva. Your experiences
  • “What experiences do we offer?” · “How much is the reserve tasting?”
  • “What’s the cancellation policy for the cave tour?” · “Which experiences are members only?”
Each experience’s status, price and when it is charged, who can book it, its locations and schedule, its cancellation and refund rules (the same sentence the experience’s page shows), and its add-ons, with a link to edit it. Events
  • “What events are coming up?” · “Is the winemaker dinner sold out?”
  • “Which events did we run in September?”
Your dated events with tickets sold (or guests booked), spots left and booked value. Upcoming events by default; past ones when you ask about the past. Report figures
  • “How many covers did we have last week?” · “What’s our no-show rate this month?”
  • “How did this weekend compare?” · “How busy are the next 7 days?”
The same figures as the Reports page — reservations, covers, collected revenue, booked value, still due, no-show, cancellation and show-up rates, top experiences — and the change against the period before. Report answers never name guests. How Riserva works
  • “How do I set a cancellation policy in Riserva?” · “What does Payment due mean?”
Sidekick can search these help articles and answer from them. Parts of the help center about features that aren’t switched on for your store are left out of what it searches.

What Sidekick can’t do

  • Change anything. Sidekick only looks things up in Riserva. It can’t book, move, cancel, check in, refund or charge. Ask it to, and it should tell you so and give you the link to the page where you can do it yourself.
  • Share contact details. Riserva never gives Sidekick a guest’s email address or phone number. To contact a guest, open their reservation from the link.
  • See another store. Each answer comes only from the store you’re signed in to.

If Sidekick says it can’t reach Riserva

Sidekick learns what Riserva can answer when the admin page loads. Right after Riserva is updated, a page that was already open can still have the old list, and Sidekick may say it has no access to Riserva’s data. Reload the page, start a new conversation (the pencil icon at the top of Sidekick), and ask again.

Privacy

  • Names are shortened. Sidekick sees a guest as first name and last initial — “Maria G.” — never the full name. A name that looks like an email or a phone number shows as “Guest”.
  • Every look-up that shows guest names is recorded in Riserva’s log of access to customer data: when, which kind of look-up, and how many guests it covered — the same log that records exports and the day sheet.
  • Report, experience, event, open-time and help answers contain no guest data at all.
